Distillation
As soon as the plants are harvested they are taken immediately to the Young Living Farm distilleries. Though costly, the low-pressure, low temperature distillation process maximimizes our oils' quality and effectiveness. Within the last century, most essential oils have been extracted for the lucrative perfume industry. These essential oils are often diluted and adulterated with chemicals to create highly potent fragrances and greater volume. However, they lack the complex natural chemical constituents that make the oils beneficial and safe for application.

Gary Young developed a unique low-temperature, low-pressure distillation process which ensures that all the properties of the oils are extracted.
When a plant leaf is torn, usually a clear liquid seeps out, similar to when you bleed from a cut. This liquid has a similar purpose in the plant as the blood does in the body by:
When you cut yourself, the blood:

The life blood of the plant is in the volatile liquid, or resin, that functions like blood in the body. When distilled, this life force is called the essential oil. It takes hundreds of pounds of plants to produce a small amount of oil. For instance, it takes 5,000 pounds of rose petals to produce one pound of rose oil.
The effectiveness of the oil is many times greater than the dried or powdered plant. One drop may represent the life force of many plants depending on the type of plant and distillation process used.
What results will you see when you use essential oils?

"In 1983 I began to study tea tree oil (melaleuca), but early results were very disappointing. I later learned that there are different grades of essential oils sold in America, and when I found a No. 1 grade tea tree oil, I began to see remarkable results." - Dr. D. Gary Young
"From time immemorial, in every country, aromatic plants have always been considered the most effective treatment for diseases afflicting mankind. In many cases the essential oil is used, which is evidence that the volatile part is the most effective." - René-Maurice Gattefossé
"Without question, Young Living has some of the finest essential oils I have experienced in my world travels. Their lavender oil is one of the best. The very best." -Jean Claude Lapraz, MD
